Why I do what I do
So my challenge today is to tell my story of how I got started in my niche or market – and why I am doing what I do.
Hmmm….where to start? I suppose it started back in childhood when I was told by well-meaning parents that I couldn’t make a living doing what I loved – namely, at that time it was art – drawing. So, I ended up becoming the next logical choice – an engineer.
I hate my job!
I knew the first day of my first job that it would not be something I would do the rest of my life (I hated it). How I actually made it through my degree program without changing majors is a story for another time. I’ll give you a hint – sheer PERSISTENCE plays into it.
To make a long story short, I ended up spending over 25 years (7 of those as an engineer) in the corporate world in such positions as project manager, change manager, instructional designer, business analyst and technical writer. The common denominator in all of these is the ability to take information and transform it into something useful/useable; AND to take IDEAS and turn them into ACTIONS.
As a graphic recorder, I take information and synthesize it into something meaningful for the attendees. And now, I help transformation agents (coaches, consultants, healers and other entrepreneurs) discover their signature step-by-step system so the can more easily create products and programs – and make more money!!!
I have met so many people along the way that have great ideas but don’t know how to get them out there quickly and easily; or they’ve been told they need a “freebie”, an e-book, a teleclass, etc. and have no clue where to start.
By using my 25+ years of experience and my information synthesizing skill, I can quickly and easily get them to a point where creating programs and products becomes second-nature.
And I get to be a part of the amazing work they do along the way – I love my job now!!!
